Wed 19th Aug - Due to changes in the fixture there are only two races featured at this meeting.
(2.40) 5 Furlong Maiden Auction Stakes for 2yo (28%): 6/7 past winners were well backed at odds of 6/1 or shorter. The going at this meeting is usually good or firm and on this ground a middle draw seems to be moderately favoured . Only one unraced horse has won this since 1999 with a last run finishing 6th or better seen for the last five winners. All past winners had been rested for at least 9 days since their last outing. Trainers to watch: P Midgley (won in 2007) & R Fahey (2006).
(3.50) 5 Furlong Handicap (14%) : Whilst this race is over the same trip as the race above it does tend to attract a much larger field and this is the key factor when assessing the impact of the draw as in this race a middle-high draw seems moderately favoured - again this assumes that good or firm ground is encountered at the meeting. All past winners raced within the last 50 days (finishing 5th or better on either of last two starts) 6 of the last 7 winners had odds of 10/1 or shorter. All but one of last seven winners carried 9st 5lbs or higher. Trainers to watch: M Dods (won 2007), B Smart (2006) and D Nicholls (2003).
