GRAND NATIONAL SWEEPSTAKE

The club sweepstake was re-launched in 2006 when a prize fund of over £290 seen. The rules are similar to last year although for 2008 only the first 6 horses home will get the main points although all other finishers will get a consolation point!

HOW THE SWEEPSTAKE WORKS

The aim was to make the sweepstake hard but not impossible to win! Remember there must be a winner of this from the club membership. The aim is to pick 4 horses for the Grand National and the three best placed horses will count towards your points total. By picking 4 horses this allows you a horse that fails to complete the race.

It will cost £5 per entry (multiple entries accepted) with 90% of entry fee going towards the prize money and 10% retained towards club funds.

As everyone loves a flutter on the big race we hope members will encourage their friends/relatives to have a go as well!

There will be a single cash prize to the overall winner although in the event of a tie the prize fund will be equally divided. A small runner up prize (non cash) will also be awarded to the best runner up entry.

HOW THE WINNER IS DETERMINED

The top three finishers on each entry will score points providing they finish 6th or better o complete the course. 1st place will score 10pts, 2nd place 8pts, 3rd place 6pts, 4th place 4pts, 5th place 3pts and 6th place 2pts with all other finishers getting 1pt.

In the event that an entry contains a non runner and the reserve horse(s) run then the reserve horse with the lowest race card number will replace the non runner with the lowest race card number. If the withdrawal is too late to use the reserve horse then the non runner in the entry will be replaced by the next available best backed horse (if more than one runner at same odds the lowest race card number will apply).

The winner(s) will be the entry(ies) with the highest score.
