At the end of Round 4 the seasonal scores are as below:
The two leaders after week 19 decided to play it safe on the last day
with Phil Evans finding 5/6 winner Marchand D'argent at Chepstow
whilst Helen's selection (Lidar) finished 2nd. Other nearest
challengers Carolyn and Ken both found losers.
So it needed a big priced winner to scoop the pot and thats just what
we got with John Boswell (Round 1 winner) coming back to form with a
vengence on the last day with 100-1 winner Mon Mome!
The 101pts profit after 20 weeks of naps owes virtually everything to
the National winner but even a 1pt profit over the other 19 weeks is
no easy task so hearty congratulations to John.
It also saves me the embarassment of winning the trophy again and no
doubt John will keep it well polished when he collects the cup in the
near future.
A runner up spot is a great achievement as far as Im concerned and
whilst not wishing to try and over-shaddow John's glory I was
delighted when my final Aintree selection in the Alex Bird (Sitting
Tennant) won after taking an early price of 100-1 thus softening the
blow a little.
It was also great to see the ladies doing so well this year with Helen
and Carolyn picking up the last two prizes.
Please note that prizes are selected by the winner 1st then runner up
2nd and so on so it may take a week or two to finalise.
